The SX-70 settings

The SX-70 requires a basic knowledge of photography. We recommend reading this article carefully to learn about the settings.  With this article you will be able to achieve the best results with the SX-70 camera.

The shutter of the camera is fully automatic, you can only adjust the exposure by changing the exposure wheel. The more black showing on the exposure wheel, the darker the photo will be. Conversely, the more white showing on the exposure wheel, the lighter the picture will be. Please note: Every camera is different, the electronics can cause differences in the exposure.

The perfect setting for our film
The sensibility of our film is around 160 ASA but the setting of the camera is around 100 ASA. For a normal exposure and good results with our film we recommend that you adjust the exposure 2/3 of the wheel in the darken setting like in the first example, to correct this difference in ASA.

Shooting with flash
We recommend using the flash in darker environments. When using a flash you can leave the wheel in the middle, in the normal setting.

Shooting indoors
When shooting indoors or in low light, the shutter will stay open longer to make a more balanced exposure. This could explain why there is a delay between you pressing the shutter button and the photo ejecting. It can also explain why photos are blurry - because the shutter was open longer and the camera or subject may have moved. We recommend using a flash bar when shooting indoors or in low light.
